National Philanthropy Day Celebration

Our annual celebration attracts over 500 civic and business leaders who come together to recognize and honor the immense impact of philanthropy in our region.  Your participation in National Philanthropy Day not only honors those most generous in our community, but also allows our AFP Chapter to continue to train not-for-profit leaders who serve the local community and practice ethical and professional fundraising.  Our chapter now has 81  members representing arts and cultural organizations, health care organizations, environmental agencies, educational institutions, social service providers, museums and tourism.

2017 AWARD CATEGORIES

OUTSTANDING PHILANTHROPIST 

This award is presented to an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support and/or leadership and/or the establishment of a non-profit organization, has demonstrated civic and charitable responsibility and inspired others to become partners on a community, national and/or international level. Their generosity of spirit has made a lasting impact in the world of philanthropy.

CORPORATE PHILANTHROPIST 

This award is presented to a local corporation or civic organization which has shown outstanding community spirit and commitment to the goals of building a better community for all citizens through contributions to charitable causes and endeavors, taking an active role in community improvement activities, and by encouraging volunteerism and community involvement among its members. 

LEADERSHIP FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR

This award is presented to an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership skills in coordinating and motivating volunteers for major fund-raising projects of more than one not-for-profit organization.  By generously giving of his/her time and talents, this person makes a measurable impact on the Chattanooga community and the advancement of philanthropy.

YOUTH IN PHILANTHROPY 

This award is presented to an individual or group of young people, age 23 or younger, whose voluntary fundraising efforts have demonstrated the spirit of philanthropy and have set an example for others to follow.  Through their inspiration and leadership, they have made a significant impact on the giving horizon of Chattanooga and surrounding areas.

The Southeastern Tennessee Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals celebrated philanthropy in the Chattanooga area on November 11th, 2016 recognizing many local philanthropist and corporations in addition to the following award winners:

  • Outstanding Philanthropist - The Clarence Harris Foundation
  • Leadership Fundraiser - Charlie Arant
  • Corporate Philanthropist - Publix Super Market Charities
  • Youth in Philanthropy - Jack Skowronneck
