National Philanthropy Day Celebration

Chattanoogans will gather on Tuesday, November 13th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to recognize this year’s top philanthropists at the 32nd annual Chattanooga celebration of National Philanthropy Day at the Chattanooga Convention Center.  This event is hosted each year by the Southeast Tennessee Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

National Philanthropy Day® is the official day set aside to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy—and those people active in the philanthropic community—have made to our lives, our communities, and our world. National Philanthropy Day is formally supported by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and hundreds of other non-profit and for-profit organizations throughout North America.

Nominate an Outstanding Individual or Business for

National Philanthropy Day!

Since 1987, the Southeastern Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals has proudly hosted a National Philanthropy Day (NPD) luncheon. This year’s luncheon will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at the Chattanooga Convention Center. NPD is a celebration of philanthropy—giving, volunteering and charitable engagement—that highlights the philanthropic work of individuals and corporations in our community. The nomination process is now open and AFP is seeking nominations in these categories:

This award is presented to an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support and/or leadership and/or the establishment of a non-profit organization, has demonstrated civic and charitable responsibility and inspired others to become partners on a community, national and/or international level. Their generosity of spirit has made a lasting impact in the world of philanthropy.

This award is presented to a local corporation or civic organization which has shown outstanding community spirit and commitment to the goals of building a better community for all citizens through contributions to charitable causes and endeavors, taking an active role in community improvement activities, and by encouraging volunteerism and community involvement among its members.

This award is presented to an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership skills in coordinating and motivating volunteers for major fund-raising projects of more than one not-for-profit organization.  By generously giving of his/her time and talents, this person makes a measurable impact on the Chattanooga community and the advancement of philanthropy.

This award is presented to an individual or group of young people, age 23 or younger, whose voluntary fundraising efforts have demonstrated the spirit of philanthropy and have set an example for others to follow.  Through their inspiration and leadership, they have made a significant impact on the giving horizon of Chattanooga and surrounding areas.
